Set and forget… Getting the best from your heat pump

7 September 2023

Congratulations! You’ve made the decision to get a high-wall, floor-mounted or ducted air conditioner / heat pump. It looks great, it’s easy to use and best of all, your home’s temperature is just perfect, whatever the weather is doing outside.

Now all you and your family have to do is set the temperature, put your feet up and get on with life, right?

Not so fast!

While modern heat pumps / air conditioners are pretty amazing pieces of technology, they do need to be looked after properly.

Just like a modern car, or the outboard motor on your boat, a heat pump / air conditioner needs regular servicing to perform at its best, spot problems before they turn serious and (in some cases) comply with your manufacturer’s warranty.

Some things you can do yourself – the instruction manual that came with your heat pump / air conditioner will have some pointers. The manufacturer’s website can be helpful too.

For lasting peace of mind, though, we recommend a regular service visit from someone trained in maintaining your model of air conditioner / heat pump.

At EES we like to think our job doesn’t finish when we’re done with an installation. We pride ourselves on our after-sales service, and that includes scheduled service visits.

Here’s what we cover:

• Cleaning and inspection of indoor unit, including that all-important air filter.
• Cleaning and inspection of outdoor unit, including removing any obstructions that can reduce efficiency.
• System performance measurements including outlet temperature in all modes

If your air con driving skills have gotten a little rusty, or if you’ve moved into a home with an air conditioning unit or system that’s new to you, we can also give you a refresher course on how everything works.

And then you really can set it and forget it… until your next service visit!
